Hi there! My name’s Amara! I’m an archivist, illustrator, art history instructor, and person who loves to help other people!
I’m currently offering the following services:

- Undergrad Coaching
I look forward to working together! 🙂
With almost a decade of experience working in University Archives, Special Collections, and Rare Books, I can assist with the creation and implementation of archival policies and procedures within your institution. Whether you’re creating your archival repository from scratch or are looking to bring your archive into the modern era, I can share the various tips, tricks, and tools I’ve learned while working at the top universities, libraries, museums, and cultural heritage institutions in the country.
Art History Coaching
When I went to school, never did I think I would end up studying art history. That said, when I started pursuing it for my future profession, I wished that I had someone to discuss it with other than my college guidance counselor who wasn’t all too helpful.
Whether you’re looking for help in your undergrad program, need assistance with applying to grad school, are having trouble with writing your thesis, need help finding a job, and more, I can share my tips and tricks that I have used to land internships and jobs at leading universities, museums, libraries, and institutions!
Are you looking to create an exciting and engaging interpretive exhibit from your materials, but aren’t quite sure where to start?
By having interesting exhibits your institution will become the cultural destination in your city. Having created dozens of exhibits, I’m experienced with identifying interesting materials to help tell your story; proper installation techniques for a variety of rare, fragile materials; as well as creating descriptive labels to tell a compelling, effective story while providing context to your items.
I can also help you promote and raise awareness about your new exhibit through your institutional social media accounts including Instagram, Twitter, FaceBook, and TikTok.
Grad School Coaching
So, you’re looking to start a grad school program and you might feel alone, scared, and maybe even a bit sad. Hell, you might even be suffering from imposter syndrome and questioning whether you belong in graduate school with all the “smart” people. I’ve totally been there!
When I went to grad school, I didn’t have anyone to talk to, share ideas with, or discuss the central tenets of my thesis with and it was super isolating. No one should have to feel that way which is why I started offering coaching for grad school students.
We can discuss all of the steps in the graduate school process from applying to grad school and what you should know about that to funding opportunities. If you’re further along in the program and working on your thesis or capstone project, I can be your accountability buddy and help you keep to your deadlines to graduate on time!
My unique custom illustrations ensure that your book, blog post, website, or social media account stand out from the rest. My minimalist, graphic style will grab your audience’s attention. I can create artwork for digital (website, blog post, social media, etc.) or physical (stickers, prints, etc.) use for your brand.
Researcher, Writer, & Editor
Have a great concept for a video, blog post, or scholarly publication, but don’t have enough time (or, frankly, interest) to research, write, AND fact check everything? Let me give you a hand!
In addition to working at a level-one research institution for almost a decade, I also teach young adults how to grapple with all stages of the research process at a private liberal arts college in Chicago. I literally teach people how to do research.
I am able to assist you with any and/or all stages of the research and writing process! Here is just a small sample of the parts of the process that I can help with:
- Accumulate research from legitimate, verifiable sources.
- Read, understand, and synthesize scholarly or dense texts from “academese” into digestible, easy-to-follow text.
- Assist with writing content for a scholarly text, book, YouTube video, blog post, or any other type of social media.
- Help with editing pre-written content.
- Or just someone to listen to your ideas!
Do I really want to go to college? Am I sure the expense for attending a public or private 4-year college will actually help me with my long-term goals? Is this really the right major for me?
These are just a few of the thousands of questions you might be asking yourself daily when considering or attending college. This is, without a doubt, one of the most stressful and important considerations of your life, so make sure you’re doing the right thing for yourself. While your parents are doing their best to help you, they may actually be hindering your progress toward what you actually want to do with your life.
Together, we can discuss the entire process of attending a 4-year institution including which institution might be best for you, funding opportunities, what to do once you’re accepted, what to do if you don’t get accepted, and so much more!
I’ve worked in colleges and universities for almost a decade, so I have the full scoop of what to expect, know, and what NOT to do.
